Michael J. Fox and Justine Bateman have been friends for over 30 years. They met on the set of the 1980s sitcom Family Ties which starred Fox as the conservative Alex P.
Keaton and Bateman as his liberal sister Mallory. The two actors have remained close throughout the years appearing together on several occasions including at the 2016 Emmys where they presented the award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series.
In an interview with People magazine in 2016 Fox praised Bateman for her sense of humor saying “Justine is hilarious.
She’s one of the funniest people I know.” He also spoke about how their friendship has endured saying “We’ve been friends for a long time. It’s great to be able to work with somebody who’s a friend.
Bateman has also spoken highly of Fox telling People “He’s an amazing guy. He’s so talented and he’s so funny.” She also spoke about how their long-standing friendship has been beneficial saying “It’s nice to be able to work with somebody who you’ve known for so long and who you have so much history with.
