Did A Fox Kill My Checkens

No one knows for sure what killed my chickens. I found them dead in their coop one morning with no sign of a struggle. There were no footprints in the snow leading up to the coop and no feathers or blood around the scene.

I did see some tracks that looked like they could have been made by a fox but I’m not positive.

I suspect a fox killed my chickens because that’s the most likely predator in our area. We’ve had problems with foxes in the past and they are known to kill chickens.

I also know that they are attracted to the smell of blood so if one of my chickens was injured that could have drawn the fox in.

Whatever killed my chickens I’m glad I found them before the fox did. I’m now taking steps to protect my remaining chickens including keeping them in a secure coop and adding a fence around the property.

I’m also going to be more vigilant in watching for signs of predators. I don’t want to lose any more chickens to whatever killed my first ones..
